Thanks for the suggestion.

Could you please provide an example of a case where you'd like a
warning?

I'll try to look into it.  Please note that the implementation of
@defXXX directives in the current makeinfo is a terrible kludge,
because those directives violate the usual Texinfo syntax (which
disallows unescaped braces except after a directive or a macro).  So
it is possible that introducing this is not as easy as it sounds...
