No, because there are too many strange special cases. E.g., bare braces
in the @defun commands. E.g., macros and newline madness.

It depends on what your needs are. I just mentioned it because it is
written in Perl, and has some template stuff already.

Exactly. The idea of all this is not hard to state. However,
implementing it, and keeping it 100% backward compatible, will be
an extremely time-consuming project, I'm sure.
