I ran 'admin/update-gnulib' and installed the resulting patch. This upgrades master to the latest version in Gnulib, which Karl updated recently, and so should fix the problem.

Don't bother. I found where to put it: inside the folder where I had the texi files.

Is there a reason why the texinfo.tex file that's distributed with the emacs code has an issue ?
Most probably because Paul Eggert routinely imports the latest version from Gnulib.
