The Senate was out in conference all day, and they apparently struck a deal. Voting proceded.
The provision that would have allowed drilling
in ANWR was REMOVED from the defense bill. Whew!If you pressured your Senators - THANK YOU! If your Senators voted to remove provision, thank him/her. I will forward a listing of how they voted soon. More details to follow.
Especially enjoyable was the hissy fit that the provision's author Senator Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) had on the Senate floor. hehehehehe.
Also:
Senators agreed to extend the expiring provisions of the USA Patriot Act for six months.
