Glamour Magazine gave legally blind Iditarod musher Rachael Scdoris its "Woman of the Year Award." The award was presented by Stephen Colbert who is the host of The Colbert Report on Comedy Central. Please educate the magazine and Mr. Colbert about the cruelties of the Iditarod. Tell them that people who abuse animals don't deserve awards.

Stephen Colbert raced over from taping his show to present the award to the Iditarod racer Rachel Scdoris.  Scdoris just finished in March racing 1150 miles across an Alaskan ice tundra on a dog sled. As if finishing the race in 50 below weather wasn't hard enough (more people have climbed Mt. Everest than have finished the race), Scdoris is legally blind. Rachel said Glamour asked her to make a list of who could present the award to her and she said Colbert was one of her wishes. Colbert picked up on the emphasis of ONE OF and quipped, ''What was your first wish - Brad Pitt but he was in Namibia, George Clooney - no he's off saving the world??" She laughed and said that she watched the show every night, for even though she's legally blind she can sit really, really close to the screen and sometimes make out his face. Jokingly backstage Rachael told him, "YOU need a blind friend."  He replied, "I DO need a blind friend."
