Sure. The answer is: easy of setup. You don't need to establish an Amazon account, install anything, or do any configuration. You just start using it. But if you're already using S3 to store your assets, or want to do a lot of access/management on them from places other than your Heroku app, then I recommend continuing to use S3 directly.
