Check out the solution I found on the "502 Bad Gateway" thread.

If my theory is correct, the problem was out of date browser cookies
for heroku. In that case, a local edit and push via Git would not have
fixed the issue, just worked around it... Thanks tho, I've been
meaning to set that up here.
