Thanks, Chris. Just got around to looking at your solution, and it's
exactly what I want to do. I'm also using a module/plugin for application
config from a yml file. Is there a way to include it so I can access the
configured domain name. I want to write something like this:
def ensure_proper_protocol
return true if ssl_allowed?
if ssl_required? && !request.ssl?
redirect_to "https://"; + Config.ssl_domain + request.request_uri
flash.keep
return false
elsif request.ssl? && !ssl_required?
redirect_to "http://"; + Config.http_domain + request.request_uri
flash.keep
return false
end
end
