I've an app that I've just deployed to Heroku (http://www.boxfileapp.com) and I have some concerns about the performance of the database.
The app is only running on one dyno at the moment as the load (if you can call it that) is miniscule. However, one thing I have noticed from within RPM is that the database is accounting for around 60% of the total time for the app. Given that there is a tiny amount of data in the app, and the queries are no more complicated than simple selects, this is a little concerning. Is this because the app is on one dyno perhaps and the DB gets 'switched-off' when it's not in use as the dyno would be? Or is there something else at play?
