Hi Cristiano, Great question. Geo-spatial search is absolutely supported by Websolr, though the state of support in various Solr clients can be a bit hit or miss. Because the current version of Solr (1.4) doesn't officially support geo search, the current version of the Sunspot Solr client (1.2) uses a client-side geohashing technique. It's fast and doesn't require any special server support for spatial search to get results near a given point, but lacks some of the more precise features of a more robust approach. The documentation for that can be found here: http://outoftime.github.com/sunspot/docs/classes/Sunspot/DSL/RestrictionWithNear.html If you need more accurate distance calculations and sorting, you can also make use of the solr-spatial-light Solr plugin, which we support. Here's a recent blog post describing how to do this via Sunspot: http://notch8.com/2011/02/22/sunspot-spatial.html If you have any further questions please feel free to ask and I'll get you steered in the right direction. -- Nick Zadrozny http://websolr.com — hassle-free hosted search, powered by Apache Solr -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Heroku" group.
