To point a domain you purchased through Godaddy.com to an app you've built on Heroku:
- login into you godaddy acct - Go to the "My Account page", click "Domains", click "Launch" next to the name of the domain you want to edit. This will launch the Domain Manager which opens on the "Domain Details" page. - On this page, under "Domain Information", locate "Forwarding", click "Manage" - Turn forwarding on - Enter Heroku provided url. If you're on Cedar it will have the form, myappname.herokuapp.com. click "OK" to save and return to the "Domain Details" page. - Locate "DNS Manager" under "Domain Details", click "launch". - Locate "www" in the cname list, click to edit "points to" value, input Heroku provided url. If you're on Cedar it will look like, nameofmyapp.herokuapp.com - Locate '@' field under A host, click 'Points to' field to edit. Input address of godaddy's routing server, 64.202.189.170 - Save and leave. Allow some time for nameservers to populate, and your app should be reachable by both 'www.customurl.com' as well as ' customurl.com' Hope that helps.
