You definitely should not be putting the modules dir into the git repo.
So remove and gitignore that.
Running "heroku run" doesn't change the slug file, so that isn't going
to help.
The easy way to clear out your cache is to create a new app, but I don't
think that will help with this problem.
I noticed you are using the lib dir for your local deps. Since Play
uses the lib dir already you should put your local deps somewhere else.
Maybe that will help.

I tried it with and w/o the modules dir in the gitignore file.
Same result both ways.
I had removed spring all together and tried to push but that still
looked for the spring module.
Tried heroku run play clean but that didn't workee either.
Do you know if there is a heroku command to clean the cedar stack? Maybe
that would help.
Thanks for any help.

That looks right.
Make sure your modules dir is not being pushed (.gitignore).

I specified it in my local one I am pushing. When I look myself
running
on heroku the file appears empty.
I'm probably not looking in the right place tho.
Works fine locally but the push fails.

How did you specify the spring module dependency?
You need to make sure it's in the conf/dependencies.yml file.
