Did you ever go forward with this? I'm trying to deploy a socket.io app on 
Heroku and am running into issues. I've configured socket.io to use long 
polling per Heroku's article 
(https://devcenter.heroku.com/articles/using-socket-io-with-node-js-on-heroku). 
But when my client connects its still trying to use WebSockets...
