Hi All,

Been kinda quiet around here. I am happy to report that our efforts to
develop a commercial hexayurt product have yielded an important award,
for "Best Security Idea of 2008", from a panel of judges including US
government, Accenture, defense industry leaders and VCs. Link:

Congratulations to Vinay and everyone that has contributed to the
hexayurt vision and technology base!

Our venture was founded by burners, and we are intent on taking the
playa to the planet at two levels. At the physical, we are evolving
and advancing Hexayurts, Playatech, AEZ methods and other open source/
proprietary inventions into a complete furnished "Home" that harvests
resources for survival and leaves no trace for disaster victims,
refugees, and the world's 4 billion ultra-poor. We are finding great
interest in a scalable commercial solution enabling sustainable global
development as well as emergency relief.

At the metaphysical, we are looking at how to bring every possible
aspect of our playa "Home" to the desperate so they can live in
successful community, by seeking ways to apply all 10 Burning Man
principles that define our own community in very different scenarios.
We think "radically self-sufficient homes that leave no trace" is just
the tip of the iceberg here, and we welcome radically creative inputs
in this out-of-the-box endeavor. Bman works, most of the world
doesn't; what can we apply from our experiment in temporary community?

At the physical level, we're looking for really good engineers with
backgrounds in 1) mechanical design & 3D CAD (eg Solidworks), or 2)
micro-power/water systems, or 3) advanced materials and material
processing. If you are qualified and zealous about saving people and
the environment through "Conscious Capitalism" please get in touch
offline.

Until we close our initial funding round, compensation is peanuts,
stock options, and knowing that with enough critical mass, we can have
a major impact on everyone's future - the award we won reflects a deep
understanding in government, industry, and financial minds that what
we think of as "security technologies" are in fact band-aids for
symptoms, and the real problem to solve is 4 billion desperate people
who will do desperate things to us and/or the environment to have a
better life, until they are provided a better path. Vinay and others
envisioned hexayurts and distributed infrastructure as a better path,
and we intend to turn that footpath into a 4 lane highway.

As our start-up progresses, we intend to support the open-source
community in various ways, and feel there is great value in a
symbiotic relationship. I'll send another mail with an example of that
in a bit.

Keep up the amazing work everyone.

Arthur (aka Sunshine)
