I received a question off-line about applying the radiant barrier. I thought I would post my reply here as well.
We used the Reflectix Radiant Barrier in 48" wide rolls. We're pre-taping as much as possible (important for the playa) so we're making an accordion folder. Roll the barrier over a panel or a sheet of plywood, spray it with 3M Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive, place another panel over it and press down. Cut the barrier from the roll. You can wrap it over the edge or cut right to the edge. Flip it over and roll a wooden dowel over the barrier to press it down. We cut the diagonals for the roof panels after applying the radiant barrier. It looks great and was very easy to do. We used the 3M adhesive on the playa last year to attach decorations (though not to attach a barrier, we used RMax last year), so we expect it to hold up in the heat. One 125' roll will easily cover a hexayurt with 4' walls (provided you only want the barrier on the outside), and will just cover a yurt with 6' walls if you cut to the edge or are very careful about how much you wrap each sheet. We still have 18 panels of Hexacomb left! - Last chance to have a rocking home on the playa this year!". --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "hexayurt" group.
