Dear friends, we now have a shooting solution to put the hexayurt on the ground in Haiti in substantial numbers as the tents fail.
Step one: is the Science for Humanity engineering appeal: http://bit.ly/hex4haiti They will get a set of plans, credentialled by engineers, for a hexayurt that will stand up to the local conditions and last. Step two: we have had a lot of agencies talk to us about the hexayurt, big and small. When SfH provides plans, we will start to see them deploy hexayurts in Haiti. Step three: having had a chance to see, use and learn the design, the locals in Haiti can make as many as they need, either from their own resources or from aid. Very alpha plans - really just a brief for the engineers - are up on http://hexayurt.com now. When these are proper construction blueprints with engineering data, we will see real ground action in Haiti.
