Shout out! So I just wanted to take the time to say hello. 2010 will be my 4th consecutive burn. I have stayed in a tent, RV, and last year i had a shelter better than anything hexayurt... I built it from the ground up and had a ceiling fan with light, toilet, bunk bed,air-conditioner,lots of room, and a shower with a gray-water recycling system that would recycle gray water so I could take unlimited showers if I wanted to...Yup- bad -ass, AND I will never do it again! To heavy to transport, and it takes way too long to put up.
So that's how I got the idea to start looking into hexayurts.I really like the fact that they are supposed to go up in approximately 1 hour, are energy efficient, and are light weight for transport. if speaking of hexayurt materials,if insulation factor is not too big of an issue, has anybody thought about using this... http://corrugatedplastics.net/10mmCorrugatedPlasticSheets.html ???? Regardless, I live in Las Vegas, and from what I have been reading,I guess Thermax HD is pretty hard to come by. I will have an air conditioner again this year, so I would like something that is fire resistant. Of course, we could always get something like this for fire safety... http://www.fomofoam.com/productlist.htm -or- http://cgi.ebay.com/DC315-Fire-Proof-Paint-For-Spray-Foam-Insulation_W0QQitemZ320516259452QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4aa041fe7c but just look at the prices! I have seen five gal in fireproofing sprays for approximately $250 when I do a thorough search on Google. I only care so much about fireproofing because I will be having electronics and appliances inside my shelter. I think I just may end up using hexacomb cardboard and a different, fire-proof, panel for the one that supports the ac. I may try to experiment with waterproofing the cardboard with a safe spray like this... http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091112062829AApgtnT or just use clear coat.Again, all this assumes is that I cannot find Thermax HD or suitable replacement. I have seen some really awesome hexayurts, and looking forward to helping each other. Later Icuras -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "hexayurt" group.
