Nice furry comment brian! Lmao.

Many in my hood at esp. And 4.30 got flooded. Raising on pallets is  a
good idea. Also peef is here and recommended taping tarps on the inside. Seems
wise.

My question would be, "How deep is the water?"

Living in a temperate climate, I would be mostly worried about a

trickle above wet, soggy ground as long as I placed my shelter in a

decent place.

In my case and where similar wetness vs flooding would be common, I'd

suggest elevating the interior floor, perhaps with shipping pallets

and pieces thereof.

Over the long term this might introduce the problem of small, furry,

uninvited roommates though.

Having taught basic wilderness survival over the past 20 years or so,

I'd say don't locate in flood prone places. For further prevention,

my philosophy has been:

1. Don't be where the water goes.

2. Don't fight the flow.

Better to either elevate yourself above the flow or redirect the flow

around you. Sealing your shelter bottom is only going to make the

water try to move you and that's no fun. You can redirect the flow of

running trickles but for real flooding, it is best to get above it

somehow.

For light flooding and soggy ground, a platform of pallets should

suffice. For anything more... move.

It's been my experience that sometimes you just have to get the heck

out of there, no matter how much you love your location and shelter.

(I have a lovely story of hypothermia in June to thank for that

lesson.)
