I've been to Burning Man the last nine years, and noticed a
significant uptick in Hexayurts on the Playa of all sizes and types. I
saw multiple camps with more than half a dozen! Now if we can just
apply our knowledge and experience off-Playa...

When I arrived at my village, Playagon, I realized we had a faction
called Yurtopia. They had at least 5 hexayurts all placed together,
including ours built for use as common space for Future Camp and our
village.
My most favorite cooling system was built from a Home Depot bucket by
fellow Future-Camper Charlie. It was sophisticated yet simple and here

His yurt stayed cool 24-7.
I wanted to put more time into decor this year, but didn't have quite
enough. However, I discovered that vinyl stickers stick quite nicely
to the outside of the hexayurt. We used a hot pink octopus on the
door, which actually had only six legs so we called it a hexapus. =)

This year we achieved a huge critical mass with people learning to
build hexayurts. Next year I believe we'll see a new generation of
innovation in regards to cooling, furnishing, decorating, and hexa-
uses. My intended improvements will include an air/dust-lock layer on
the inside that zips up and keeps it sealed, the bucket swamp-cooler,
and the addition of a head-phone/sensory dep station that will allow
people to relax and block out additional noise.
