i have had good experieces regarding fire resistance with ordinary
drywall as a baffle, 1 inch from a main wall, around hot wood heaters.
I am wondering if there might be a gypsum based, smear on, solution
availabe for interior applications. It would certainly be lighter in
weight. Ceiling weights and ductilities are what I'm having doubts
about.

Experimentation with scrap pieces (I know there aren't supposed to be
any) and a tiger torch might be in order.
A basic axiom with explosives, is that force per unit of explosive is
increased non linearly with compression. I am wondering about an
inflamable material packed in a rigid concrete case. If an oxidant
were present I know what would happen.....
