Hiya, I organized a shipment of hexacomb a few years back -- Plague (Rich) was in on that order. You can also order it through a company called U-Line but I think they are a bit pricey.
We are bringing our hexacomb hexayurts back to the playa for a 3rd time this year. We never waterproofed them, although it is something we discuss...we just haven't figured out the best way to go about that yet. We have a huge shade structure that they sit under for the duration of the burn. Water and cardboard do not play nicely together...you are right about that Ian!
