Phil: I didn't do anything as tricky as that. My closet was simply one of those that are put together with metal rods, and has a fabric cover that zips up. The key was I have a 6ft tall Hexayurt so it fit along the wall. It was dust protected so the stuff was clean. I even hung up my drying towel so the next shower wasn't with a dust impregnated (muddy) towel.
I'll try to do something like the shelves next year because having a place to store the gear we constantly use would be very helpful. At night I was constantly looking for my stuff, and trying to balance a light so I could feed my pre-sleep addiction (reading). Also my headlamp, dust mask, goggles, etc were generally on the floor near the door. I could use a going outside shelf near the door like the keys, wallet, sunglasses table I have at home. When I package my hexayurt I end up with a void in the tarp. My roof folds up to a neat 4'x8' package but my vertical walls are only 4'x6'. I end up with a 2'x4'x12" area to fill. This year I filled it with the rubber floor I used but I could see making a bunch of furniture that would pack in the void. Anyone have any thoughts on shelving needs, and what could come out of a 4x8 panel? charlie On Sep 14, 2:16 pm, Phil Dirt <[email protected]> wrote: > Charlie: > When I cut my stretch hexayurt I had a few pieces of scrap left over. > I found that by taping the obtuse angle ends together they formed a > triangular shape that fit perfectly in the angled end wall of my yurt. > I had enough to build two shelves with rectangular pieces to support > them along the wall and in the middle.
