I messed up the attachment, here's the painted yurt photo, and below the technique Swami G used on his yurt in 2011: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/sredir?uname=grissom.ka&target=ALBUM&id=5637128485660851841&authkey=Gv1sRgCJ7oiJSQxfvaIw&invite=CJbQoNUF&feat=email
Here are the deets: I used various indoor and outdoor paints, whatever I could find on discount (great selection) in the colors I needed at Kelly Moore in Oakland on Telegraph. I had a few more colors custom mixed in an interior flat latex at Home Depot. First; a white Kilz primer over all the surfaces front and back, second; two coats interior color, three coats on all colors exterior plus spray metallics on top tier of the roof. Finally, all the interior and exterior was painted with a clear water based varnish sprinkled with pearlescent flakes to add shimmer. Most of the seams (tape hinges) were created first, then painted over with the primer and other paints. Some seams had to be done AFTER it was taped to maintain the design. I reapplied the paint over the seams again after we taped it up on the Playa. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "hexayurt" group.
