By all accounts, this is going to be a windy year. On the Playa, your Hexayurt is priceless in more ways that one.
Keep in mind that it will only be rock solid when you've got it taped up and tied down. Until then, it'll want to be free, and that's just a gust away. I've done the dome thing in the wind. That night we desperately wanted someplace to sleep and we got it up... barely. There were broken spars and we were lucky we didn't tear the cover. You know what would have been smarter? We should have slept anywhere else that night. We should should have built later. The winds will die down as more people arrive and build BRC. They'll also chill out - literally - in the mornings before the temperature goes up, which causes thermals, which makes wind. In all the excitement after you arrive, be patient. Build when it's time.
