"Normal" IR thermometers are pretty useless on foil surfaces... The temp of polyiso foam decomposition is about 400"F :) so I doubt we are in danger of that even on the playa unless you try to focus solar rays in some fashion. I would not be surprised if it does get to 150"F on occasion.
