Xain, I built an H13 for 2011.
2" is overkill unless you're going to be in very cold or hot extremes for extended periods of time. Also remember that, assuming you're going to stack these panels on top of your car roof (or wherever you may transport them), the thicker the panel, the higher the entire pile will ride on top of your car, worse aerodynamics, more smashed bugs to clean off, etc. I used 1" which was fine but I'd say 1.5" is the best of both worlds. The main thing to keep in mind is *you want to use polyisocyanurate*(polyiso for short). You do not want to use any other material. Only use polyiso. So stick with R-max or Thermax. Thermax is Dow's brand name, it's polyiso. R-max is just another brand name (and the company's name), this is also made out of polyiso. R-tech (different brand and different company) serves a similar purpose but it is NOT polyiso, it's expanded polystyrene aka EPS. There are also panels out there made from *extruded* polystyrene (the pink or blue stuff). *You do NOT want to use the pink or blue stuff and/or you do not want to use expanded/extruded polystyrene*. R-tech also does NOT have reflective foil on the outside. It has a different type of skin that is made to be pest-resistant and is intended to be only used in situations where it's going to be encased in a wall or inside some other protected situation. It is not intended for being exposed to the elements. Whereas R-max and Thermax *can* both be left exposed to the elements, given you don't have huge rips in your foil skin (which eventually you will put some rips in your panel foil skins, it's inevitable). So make sure you buy *polyiso* panels with foil skin. And build your yurt with the foil logo side inwards, and the plain foil side outwards. And buy foil tape to patch up any foil skin rips. Make sure you build the yurt at home before you go, have it all cut, * mostly* taped and ready to go. Do not arrive at the playa with uncut panels and try to build it out there, it will be miserable and you will generate lots of moop (matter out of place).
