Greetings, Depending on where you are going to be deploying your structure, a standard hexayurt, say with a six or eight foot wall does tile really well. This means that, instead of weakening the structure or form, you can build multi-room structures to your heart's content. Also, with a little foresight and planning, you can begin your building small, with just what your budget will allow to begin with, but be able to expand over time, as your resources increase.
The most complicated thing I have had to deal with, with connected structures, is guttering appropriately. An angled danger hinge in the valley between two roof-points has worked for me in the past. Perhaps a vinyl/glue gutter might work as well, there have been a lot of research on them here, recently. What is the weather like where you are looking to construct, how many will be residing there for how long, and what materials are you looking at? For longer term structures, a raised platform to build on gives you a number of comforts, like ducting and pipes, again, depending on your foresight and capital available. How you manage that does take some planning, but makes for a better floor than just a tarp, integrating your tie-down points becomes reasonable and rational, allows for both cooling and heating to shift about, and can add some civilized comforts, like running water or the like. I would recommend, for a single person, a private room, a room for social activities, and a work/prep/food room. That would give your social room three doors, one to the outside, one each to the other two rooms. If they are all on alternating walls, while your footprint is somewhat larger, it allows for expansion nicely. Build well, and keep us informed on what choices you make, we all want to know.
