I have not tried the 3M product, but in comparing the specifications,
there are at least two areas that would probably have a significant impact
on the appropriateness of 3M FSK 3320 for hexayurt hinges and tabs

The adhesion factor (adhesion to steel) for the 3M tape is 81 oz/inch,
while the adhesion (stickiness) of bi-directional tape is 91 oz/inch. This
is a significant difference in determining how well the tape will bond to
the construction material you are using

The most significant difference is the tensile strength (ability to resist
tearing)

3M 3320 has a very low tensile strengh-40 lbs/inch and would be hand
tearable

ATP bi-directional tape has a tensile strength of 220 lbs/inch and can not
be cut without a sharp tool

This difference is primarily created by the number of filaments in the two
tapes, with bi-directional tape having many more fiberglass reinforcing
filaments than the 3M product

The 3M product is primarily intended for sealing in hvac ducting and is
thus not subjected to bending or stretching

Bi-directional tape is made for bundling, palletizing and strapping, all
applications where high strength and flexibility are required
