I've just updated the copy on the hexayurt web site, and I thought a few of you might find the change of direction and my conclusions interesting, as well as getting a bit more information about my new projects.
Underlines are hyperlinks. Old school! I hope you'll find my thoughts interesting. V> ==================== I spent most of my adult life under a vow to do nothing for money I was not willing to do for free, which led to the hexayurt, and the hexayurt being free rather than being a product. In practice this lifestyle led to me busting my ass trying to save the human race from problems that it won't admit that it has (like pandemic flu <http://guptaoption.com/6.SPRS.php>) with some pretty weird allies. <http://science.dodlive.mil/2011/11/22/star-tides-a-medium-for-public-private-cooperation-during-humanitarian-emergencies/> I did an interview with VICE <http://www.vice.com/en_uk/read/global-resilience-guru> about a year ago, which detailed the decisions which led to me working <https://medium.com/@ConsenSys/programmable-blockchains-in-context-ethereum-s-future-cd8451eb421e#.vpjvkp554> with <https://medium.com/@ConsenSys/tell-me-who-you-are-258268bf3180#.6jkjugroh> Ethereum <http://ethereum.org/> and Consensys <http://consensys.net/>, largely leaving the unpaid work on disaster mitigation behind. I'm now completing that transformation by founding a venture capital project, working title hexayurt guy capital partners <http://hexayurt.com/capital>. We're actively looking for projects to fund, and institutions to partner with. I think you'll find the thesis interesting, and the resilience-based approach to founder psychology unique. You'd probably enjoy working with us. A lot of what pushed me down this path was watching Elon Musk's effectiveness in solving real problems using the machinery of financial capitalism. He's quite inspirational. Remember, the hexayurt was always a refugee relief project first, and a Burning Man project second. It's important to me that we do not lose sight of the real reasons this work exists <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkQCy-UrLYw>, and why it has been free since its inception in 2002. I hope you'll enjoy the next stages of our development. There's a Reddit AMA <https://www.reddit.com/r/BurningMan/comments/4xqqt6/hexayurt_guy_ama_i_invented_the_hexayurt_anything/> if you want additional insight. —VG PS: In case you think I've entirely abandoned my efforts to improve things by diligent effort, The Cutting Machinery <http://futurethinkers.org/meditation-app/> meditation app will be out soon, and that's another big job out of the way. If you wonder how and why I did what I did, it's in there <http://futurethinkers.org/?s=gupta>. -- *Vinay Gupta * * hexay...@gmail.com <hexay...@gmail.com> * *http://re.silience.com* <http://re.silience.com> *Free Science and Engineering in the Global Public Interest* UK Cell : +44 (0)7500 895568 Twitter/Skype/Gtalk: hexayurt "In the midst of winter, I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer" - Albert Camus -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "hexayurt" group.
