Hi Alison,

I used to have a Bosch (which I miss dearly)and that was played in both D
and G. It worked, but I got fed up with maintaining the 'D'
tuning-especially the higher chantrelle- and have played in G ever since. I
cannot remember which strings I used now, but I'm sure someone else will
know.

Best Wishes

Jacqueline

Subject: [HG] back to the list

Hello all,
I am a HG player from Eastern Ontario and I have taken a little
hiatus from the list... but am back with questions.

I tried to find the info on the archives, but had a tough time wading
through it all.

I was wondering if anyone had reviews/ recommendations about
instruments. I am going to be up-grading and am debating between a
Gotschy or Kerbouef instrument, French lute-back model. I will
consider others as well, but those are some that at least I have
heard/tried out and know are very reputable makers.

Also, I play in D-tuning, I am thinking about changing my strings on
my old gurdy to G-tuning when I acquire the new baby. Has anyone
tried that with any success?

I look forward to any comments, it will be fun to reconnect with the
world of hurdy-gurdy players

Thanks,
Alison
