Grief! - that means it must be 13 years since I went. I'd echo Phils' comments though. It is a very enjoyable event in a lovely part of France with some great music. However, despite the name, there was not many HGs around and definitely very subdued compared to St Shartier.

They held a rather fun bouree dancing competion during the main bal on the daturday night, which is held in a large marquee on a slope. Thus all dancing tended to migrate to one end. Which was rather interesting.

I have just returned from Anost, I have been going for 12 years, and can recommend it; however if you are expecting an o.t.t.world music fest like Saint Chartier then forget it. Anost is primarily a local festival for local people. This year there were 2 gurdy worshops for Morvan music on g/c instruments and a bourree dance workshop, all free. If you are thinking of going, camping is available at the municipal [cheep]. If you are looking for B+B expect to be over 15km from Anost as all acomodation gets booked early. Anost has some great music, 2 of the tunes appear on my most recent cd www.drohne.co.uk <http://www.drohne.co.uk> . The fete ends with a proccession of gurdies and pipes saluting the house where the tune Adieu les filles de mon pays was collected.

This event is held each year at this time. So maybe you can plan
    on attending next year.
I have not gone to this event but you can look at the list of
performers to get an idea of what happens.
They have some top HG players performing each year.

The program usualy features music and dance from the Morvan area.

Has anyone ever attended this event?
