While we respect the opinion of Herr Weichselbaumer, please do not use silicon spray on our instruments. You will irreparably damage the finish and possibly the wheel if you are even a little bit off target and you will invalidate the warranty. If you own an instrument made by another luthier you might want to check with them since to the best of my knowledge (I confirmed this with Jeff Jewett of Homestead Finish) you do not want silicon in any form including furniture polishes containing silicon to come into contact with finished wood. It leaves a residue which is next to impossible to remove and the finish can not be repaired.
