Hi Judith
The tradtional Amsterdam buskers play "draaiorgel", translated into english it's probably hurdy gurdy. They do make a lot of noise !
Greetings from Amsterdam.
By the way there is an Amsterdam "hurdy gurdy man", his name is Leo  and he doesn't play loud , on the contrary !
Greetings from Amsterdam.

Reading a busker's blog and came across this paragraph:

"Although Magpie reported that turf disputes are rare, he did come close to one once:
My mortal enemy is the hurdy-gurdy man of Amsterdam. He has a habit of rolling up l
ess than 10 meters from my favorite spot and playing louder than me. And his
hurdy-gurdy isn’t even handcranked. He just has this gas-powered machine busk for him. Worse, he has permits."

Boggles the mind, doesn't it?
