      Hello folks,
These next sites have plenty of great tools and materials especially for
gurdy's
      http://www.kauffer.com/vielle.htm
      http://www.luthier-bourgogne.com/Pascal-Cranga.php (also pre fab parts)
http://www.proarte.be/bouwer/cat.pdf download the catalogue and look at
page 22 for "Citerpennen "

      Greetings from Holland,
      Cor Westbroek

Mr. Szostak, where can you buy the pre-fab parts you mentioned below...
It would be nice to get the s-shaped cranks and shafts pre-made... My first
attempt to build a HG which I'm still making. I found the shaft the most
troublesome because I no longer have a metal lathe.. I had to chase the threads
by hand onto a steel rod... No fun.... Also I have a question If I
may........ I used a threaded t-nut installed and permanently fastened to the
wheel. When this is screwed onto the shaft should I just secure it with a nut
and lock washer on the shaft.. Seems as If I would have to leave enough room
or make a slot in the top to get a wrench in there to tighten the wheel to the
shaft.. Their must be a better way...

          Thanks for the input, folks-

I have used zither pins; they seem to work fine but I just don't find
them
appealing - the "older-looking" style seem a more appropriate
aesthetic.
I haven't had a chance to look into harp or harpiscord components.

It seems like you can buy almost any other pre-fab hurdy-gurdy part:
knobs, S-shaped cranks, shafts and bearings, even fully carved tuning
heads, but no sympathetic pegs. Well, like I said, I haven't persued
the
          other leads.

Maybe I'll try to make some... some year!

          ~ Matt
