I'm going to see what I can do when I get home.. It does have adjustable

Your problem with the low A may be the tangent pressure. I can't remember 
offhand if the Orca has adjustable tangents but you may be able to slide the 
tangent in or out, this may make a difference if its just the one note.
one way to tell if you may need to shim is if the high notes (d',e',f#,g'') 
sound scratchy or not as clear as the notes in the first octave. Dont be afraid 
of shimming, i dont think there is a 'gurdy out there that doesnt have at least 
a couple of scraps of paper on the bridge. There are $10,000 instruments that 
only work because of 2 cents worth of rolling paper.
Of course you have to realize i have only had a hurdygurdy for 3 years so i may 
be full of crap, but thats whats worked for me. Roy may have other solutions or 
you could contact Alden and Cali direct.
