I know someone who has a hurdy-gurdy for sale. He's selling off his late
wife's instrument collection, as he's a singer, not a player.

It's a small symphony, chromatic over 2 octaves or so (I neglected to count the
keys for an exact check). It has two chanterelles and two drones, no dog.
Ryan isn't sure who the maker is -- he thinks it was purchased in England. I
couldn't find a maker's mark on it. When I looked at it, it seemed to be well
put together and functional. I didn't spend a lot of time shimming to get a
good sound, but a quick shove of some paper under the chanterelles made a
noticeable difference, so I think it will clean up nicely with just regular
maintenance type work. It held tuning pretty well (friction pegs), and the
tangents I moved didn't need a lot of force to move them, and stayed where I
put them.

It's a nice little instrument, IMHO suitable for someone who wants to sing
troubadour repertoire while accompanying themselves, or something similar.

Ryan has pictures available for those who ask. Contact him directly at [EMAIL
