I might as well put my two cents in: Having struggled with the Musicmaker's kit for quite a few years (the early version, with even more design flaws than the present one), I wound up with something relatively playable - but a far cry from a GOOD instrument. Fortunately, shortly after I discovered the HG List, I got an offer for a second-hand Gotschy from one of the members, and have been practicing on it happily since then. There may be other players out there who have good entry-level instruments, and who now wish to upgrade. That way, you have a chance at a decent HG at a decent price.
