Cool thanks.

The one I have been playing most recently was made by a Austrian / German?
Maker - a lute back - has 4 main strings and 6 buzzy ones and a whole bunch of
sympathetic strings. It kind of ruined me for cheaper instruments.

I wrote a text about hurdy gurdy aquisition, which you might find
helpfull:
"What should a beginner look out for when buying a hurdy gurdy?"
at http://simonwascher.info/HGbuy.htm

there is a list of makers online in the hurdy gurdy wiki:

Kategorie:Instrumentenbau?

my opinion is, investing in a good instrument will soon give a good
return as you will learn easier and quicker, get further. You will be
able to concentrate more on the music and less on the adjustment.

Simon
