A couple of factors are at work here. First, Diane's message didn't include a subject line. Our list software, Majordomo, doesn't know to add the [HG] header to the subject line, so you may have just deleted it along with all the rest of the spam. (Tossing out spam is a daily task of Herculean proportions, at least on our account, and it's easy to miss things that shouldn't be deleted.)
Second - as a Comcast subscriber, you may have missed my Admin Memo of a month or so ago: Comcast's email filters are set to bounce email from ISP's it doesn't recognize. There's some issue with the DNS identification on one of the servers that sends out the email for the list. I can't get our provider to fix it, because I can't contact our provider. I can't get Comcast to recognize the server. The result is that SOMETIMES Comcast subscribers don't get the list mail. I'm working on the problem by looking into how we can move to newer, friendlier software on a server where we can actually talk to the sysadmin. That's the long-term goal, and I hope to have it completed in the next few months. The short-term fix for Comcast subscribers is to get another account from a free provider (gmail, hotmail, whatever) and subscribe it to the list. Any questions or discussion of these issues should be directed to me, not to the list.
