I'm coming back after a two year absence, now that I can hear again. Some non-obvious things you'll be glad you brought would include a sheet and clothespins or safety pins to provide a bit of privacy (you'll see how that works when you get there), some sort of battery-operated reading lamp as they *will* turn the light out before you're really ready, a flashlight, and if you bring things that need recharging, an extension cord and/or power strip is not a bad idea, as electrical outlets are few and far between. A water bottle is a good idea, too. The earplugs are a very good suggestion if you're a light sleeper; people will come and go at all hours and there are always enough enthusiastic snorers to make the barracks sound like a beach full of elephant seals. I think you'll find your "roomies" to be unfailingly polite and considerate, but there are a lot of them. Also consider bringing a hat to fend off the rain (guaranteed) and sun (if any). A cheerful disposition is always an asset, of course, but you'll be surrounded by it on every side, so you can't help being equipped. You'll have fun.

Hi Ruthie.

Ear plugs!!
We're in barracks! So there will be a bed. You'll need sleeping bag, pillow - we share a big bathroom so you may w ant to bring a dressing gown. I know Nancy Q will have other stuff to help you define your cubicle, she helped me out a lot the first year!!
Can't help you with the registration stuff, but see you soon!

I am coming to the Over the Water festival this year for the first time, and am really excited about it. Just wondered...should I have received a registration pack? I filled in the online form and paid my money ages ago, but have received nothing. It would be helpful to know what I have to bring - bedding? music? Anyone able to advise? I have emailed Louise Craig but not had a reply.

Looking forward to meeting up with lots more gurdy players :-)
