Agreed. /etc is for configuration. /bin is for executables. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filesystem_Hierarchy_Standard Adding src to the mix feels dirty to me but I guess it makes sense for Maven? I'm including a /bin directory in my project that contains scripts and it's pretty obvious what's in there.
