Hi, I've updated the original pull request (https://github.com/hibernate/hibernate-core/pull/118) to address the Map sizing issue. I've also removed a few debug log statements which could provoke a NPE.
I've also done the 4.0 port and added a new pull request for the current master (https://github.com/hibernate/hibernate-core/pull/132) .
