As an example to start discussions, here is my first method proposal:

public interface LogicalNamingStrategy {
        /**
         * Determine the logical table name to use for the specified entity in

         *

         *
         * @return The table name identifier to use
         */
        public Identifier logicalTableName(Entity entity);
}

Essentially replaces NamingHelper#classToTableName
