I just had this conversation with the Spring guys last week. You may want to check their mailing list. Here's the abridged version: You can do it. It is a nasty hack of the system (and beauty of Spring). The mailing list includes the necessary filter on how to do it. However, it is not really recommended due to how Spring uses transactions.
