This would make it a lot easier to do things like generate proxies without hitting the store, and should also make it possible to provide a much more flexible approach to ANY.
The type information could encoded using a Big Bag Of Pages approach. Just allocate IDs for all relevant classes from single identifier space, but allocate different ranges hi-lo style for each class.

Have a hi-lo generator that can use a separate connection to the main store and access it from a separate transaction/thread context to the rest of the accesses, so they can be used with JTA.
