Marilah kita kembali sejenak car prices in the mid
1980's. At that time, generally the car prices were
below RM 20,000 (ini kereta rakyat yang biasa
dipakai;nissan sunny,toyota LE etc, Honda Accord 30
lebihlah). When the car prices started to increase?
and why? Please refers to article Prof. Jomo and Prof.
Ishak Shaari (Allahyarham) in the mid-1980's. Both
economics professors disagree with the national car
project. At that time I was first year Economics
student-baca faham tak faham article Prof . Jomo.
National car project was not competitive. With that
project the other cars (imported car) prices increased
rapidly. Kadang-kadang tak faham kenapa dan apa
hubungannya kereta local and imported car. We should
understand the macroeconomic theory and international
trade, and also state sovereignty. How they play their
role in protecting the local products.
