ACEH Assalamu aleikum. OIWW Faq: http://www.oiww.org/faqs.html --- New York-based foundation to build orphan homes in Aceh Jakarta Post February 06, 2005 http://www.thejakartapost.com/detaillatestnews.asp?fileid=20050205174229&irec=1 NEW YORK (Antara): New York-based Orphan International World Wide (OIWW) plans to build a complex of orphan houses in tsunami-stricken Aceh to accommodate displaced children, OIWW's founder Jim Luce said in a statement on Friday. Luce said he had gathered funds to finance the construction of the permanent buildings to be equipped with supporting facilities. OIWW has made plans to buy a 16-hectare plot of land on the outskirts of Banda Aceh, the statement said. If the procurement process is completed smoothly, the land will be used for the construction of 60 houses, schools, health centers, sports halls and other supporting facilities. The construction of the facilities is aimed at accommodating the displaced children in their own province where everything would be handled by staff members appointed by local people, the statement explained. OIWW has thus far contacted government officials, including regional ones to inform them about the plan. OIWW staff has also conducted a registration for the orphans, and recruited local staff, especially teachers and nurses. Luce said that the plan to help the displaced children was supported by thousands of American school children, who have been donating to the cause. "School children from New York, Washington and Colorado are now raising funds to help finance our project," he added.
