The Apartheid Terminology Of the 'Jerusalem
Security Envelope'
By Ali Al-Hail
Al-Jazeerah, April 5, 2005
The latest
chauvinistic apartheid patterned pronouncement by the Israeli government
two weeks ago channelling the Apartheid Land-Grab Wall in greater
Jerusalem, has been observed by many as quite odd and makes no sense to
anybody.
After the verdict was taken by the Tel Aviv government
Ehod Olmert Deputy Premier and former governor of Jerusalem declared that,
certain areas were part of Jerusalem, but not part of the state of
Israel.
Such somewhat an inexplicable proclamation was meant
apparently, to reinforce the apartheid grab land wall that two years ago
illegally, separated the east Jerusalem district of Kafr Akab in which
20,000 Palestinians live as residents of Jerusalem from greater
Jerusalem.
The purpose was of course obvious to serve whats
called by Israel the Jerusalem Security Envelope that began more or less
spontaneously, with establishing the apartheid grab land wall in
2003.
The apartheid terminology of the Jerusalem Security
Envelope doesnt seem to end at Kafr Akab. Another district in which
30,000 Palestinians of Jerusalem, amongst whom the Jerusalem residents of
Shuafat refugee camp, are awaiting in the Israeli apartheid
que.
They sooner will be barred by the apartheid land grab
wall from entering greater Jerusalem to which they culturally and
demographically belong.
And their miseries will worsen further as soon as the
apartheid authority sets a checkpoint through which they may have an
access for browsing in their beloved city.
There are more than 250,000 Palestinians who are
residents of Jerusalem by ancestry for centuries. As a result, the
apartheid grab land wall by fencing out Palestinian residents of Jerusalem
technically, contradicts the Jerusalem Security Envelope in terms of
both, demographic and political deliberations.
This apartheid action in actual fact even harms
Israels long term goal which is to have Jerusalem as its eternal,
undivided capital of the Hebrew State. For, singling out Palestinian areas
of Jerusalem will inevitably, divide the city.
Additionally, Israel doesnt seem to be interested in
including Palestinian residents of Jerusalem whose interest is to be part
of the Palestinian viable state.
Thus, within the framework of the Roadmap Plan whose
ultimate goal is to achieve a possible negotiated peace agreement if
appropriately, applied Jerusalem's municipality borders will have to be
rearranged in order for the Palestinian areas to be included in the East
Jerusalem, as the capital of the Palestinian state referred to by the
Roadmap.
Meanwhile, the apartheid grab land wall by cutting off
Palestinian residents of East Jerusalem from the rest of their historical
city where they live and breath, the Israeli government in fact incites
Palestinian residents of East Jerusalem to become violent against Israel
as a result of alienating them.
Many in Israel are aware of the myth of the Jerusalem
Security Envelope as not doing anything worthwhile for security as much
as it is designed for changing the structure and demographics of
Palestinian areas and for making the lives of Palestinian residents of
East Jerusalem simply, HELL.
