Assalam o Allaikum. Thanks for your E mail. I just got few minutes to check my E mails and writing this response immediately. Disaster is too big. Three out of five big cities(Muzafarabad,Bagh and Rawalakot) of Azad Kashmir are destroyed up to 80%.One big city of North Frontier Province (Balakot) is totally demolished. Innumerable small towns and villages have vanished. Nobody can tell the death toll at the moment.News papers are reportoing upto 50,000.I guess it will rise much higher. Thousands of people are alive under the rubble and crying for the help but their voice is becoming feeble by the passage of time.Rescue of such people is beyond the scope of human beings.Thousands of school children are burried alive.The big Military hospital of Muzafarabad( Capital of Kasmir) is totally collapsed and doctors with their patients are burried alive. Thousands of people are searching for any type of shelter and food. Cold weather (specially at night) along with rain at certain places is a big threat to their lives.Thousands of people with multiple fractures could not evacuated. Rescue work is grossly disprpotionate to the calmity. In addition land slides has blocked many important roads.There are many places which are totally inaccessible. Pima is putting its all efforts for the relief activity. Prof Tariq is directly supervising this operation. Prof Tariq and Prof Iqbal are themselves effected by this disaster as their many close relatives are badly effected. I cant say any thing about them. Yet to receive news about them. Prof Iqbal with the team of doctors is in the Muzafarabad. I just now received a call from our team leader in Rawalakot that weather is becoming colder, a big threat for the shelterless people.I also received a call from our team leader in Bagh, Orthopaedic surgeons with a mobile Theatre is the requirement. I will try to keep you updated. I myself is running a base camp in Rawalpindi, Joint efforts of PIMA and Jamaat Islami.We are addressing both medical and Humanitarian Relief. Four sizable teams of PIMA are in the field. More will move today. Immediate donations will help PIMA to expand its activities. Prof Tariq and its team is ready to accept donations.
