Subject: Danish Cartoon-our reaction.

Dear All,

I am writing to all of you concerning the Danish Cartoon issue which most of you are certainly aware of. I have received many letters asking me what UKEC and Malaysian Societies should be doing concerning this matter, and I apologize for not being able to reply to all of you promptly.

Nevertheless, as I have mentioned to many, not only have I sent a formal letter of complaint to the Danish embassy and the newspaper’s editor in chief (see letter in www.ukec.com), I was also involved with the peacful demonstration at Trafalgar Square last weekend (Saturday 11 February 2006)

But I would like to remind you that the best way to bring forward the right message is not through writing a thousand letters of complaints, nor is it through bombarding the Danish embassy with jeers and hackles. It is through the propagation of the beautiful message of the prophet himself, which would show to everyone around us, muslims and non muslim alike, that not only are we united against such islamophobic attacks by ignorant newspaper editors, but it will also show that the message of Islam, is a message of peace.

Berkhidmat Untuk UKEC,
Wan Mohd Firdaus Wan Mohd Fuaad
UKEC Chairman 2005/2006

Below are lists of things, which Malaysian Societies and Malaysian Muslim communities and groups in UK could do in reaction to this incident. Please forward this email to your members:

1. Adhere to the commands of Allah and the guidance of Prophet Mohammed peace be upon him, do not act irresponsibly with emotion.

2. Learn the Sirah of Prophet Mohammed peace be upon him and teach it to others.

3. Follow his Sunnah (peace be upon him) and demonstrate his virtue through your actions.

4. Send your prayers and blessings to the Prophet Muhammad ( peace be upon him)

5. Ask Allah to support his Ummah in your prayers

6. Make the upcoming Jumma khutbahs about his characteristics (peace be upon him): Muslims must know their Prophet (peace be upon him) before telling others about him.

7. Organise a talk about the Prophet Muhammad with your Islamic Society.

8. Utilise every resource available to you: Organise debates, forums and discussion groups.

9. Attend the national conference(s): Look out for the conferences that are being organised soon across the country,by FOSIS and others, attend them and support in organising them.

10. Give effective da’wah through proactive engagement in university: Interact with your colleagues, bring up this discussion and educate them.

11. Be at the forefront of every campaign that serves the greater good.

12. Monitor the media and have a say on all relevant discussions: true message will not reach out if we don’t voice it.

13. Join polls and peaceful demonstrations: Deal with the issue within the legal boundaries and avoid any emotional or irresponsible reaction that may only serve to further devastate the situation.

14. Write to any non Muslim individuals or organisations that had publicly condemned the insults, especially to the British press who have refused to publish the newspapers.
